  Local small bohemian coffee shop. Great staff, quality coffee, decent snacks. A little pricy but the quality is in line with the cost.

  A few years ago when I moved to Gorham I was excited to have a funky local coffee shop next door to my apartment. But the owner seems cold and distant, smiles only for the regulars. So I avoided it for all the places with friendlier service, where everyone is welcomed. I happened to be having my car serviced today at a shop down the street so I decided to kill time waiting at The Grind. I ordered a mango smoothie, a reprieve from the summer heat, and a scone. The bill came to $7.22 and I left a tip to bring it to $8.00. There was so much sugar in the smoothie I left it on the counter and told the owner I couldn't drink it. She offered nothing in exchange. The apology didn't seem genuine. Most the time if a meal is poor I won't come back. I've enjoyed modest food with great service. Seldom do I speak up, and I can't recall when I've ever sent anything "back to the kitchen." The Grind failed obviously on the smoothie, but especially failed on service and follow up. This visit was a disappointment.
